Lessons Information
The experience of the shakuhachi is available to anyone, from the individual seeking peace in a tranquil tone to the experienced musician who wants to study traditional Zen music. The shakuhachi began as a zen tool in the hands of Komuso Monks. Over a few centuries, the simple bamboo flute became a finely crafted instrument. The shakuhachi can be enjoyed through many approaches and I am happy to share any part of my journey.
It is my obligation to share the shakuhachi in the highest light. Performing and making are my first priorities but these days I find it necessary to make time to teach.
Because my daily schedule involves different performance activities and shakuhachi shop work, I can only offer lessons on specific times. Presently, Shakuhachi lessons are available on Fridays 9AM - 1PM only. Prices are on a sliding scale. As I mentioned above, I am dedicating to making the shakuhachi experience available to anyone regardless of cost.
