2.1 (Bb) All-natural Hocchiku style shakuhachi made from Japanese Madake bamboo harvested in Japan.

This is a thick, dense and medium/heavy piece of bamboo. It has a slight sinuous quality to the bamboo. I off set the finger holes for the standard right handed player (bottom right hand). Holes #1, #3 and #4 are off-set slightly. #2 and the thumb hole are centered with the utaguchi. These hole placements feel completely natural to me on a thick piece such as this one. Authentic Japanese urushi was used to seal the ends from potential breath moisture damage. There are two superficial hairline cracks, one at the top and one near hole #1, but not an issue affecting playability. I will bind this flute completely for no cost for the purchaser. I have priced this instrument accordingly. It is not a reflection of quality, but cosmetics.  This Hocchiku is considered a wide bore flute. It has an organic, bambooey voice - a raspy yet sweet character that evokes a bamboo forest. This fine flute is guaranteed for life of the original owner.
