Here is a fine, fully functional 1.8 Jinashi style (natural bore) shakuhachi made in the Kinkyo Ryu (school) lineage. It is offered in my Tensei Line for as a restored flute under the philosophy of “rebirth” through music.
This flute was made around the 196o’s presumably in Kyoto. The bamboo as a dark, aged patina. It has a Hanko maker’s stamp. I can’t rad the first Kanji character but the second reads Zan (san) - Mountain.
Pitched in between D and C#. Two piece with the Nakatsuki joint carved from the lower part of the original bamboo section, not an insert. Has a bamboo sliver missing form the top right. It’s worn in and has a Wabi Sabe feeling. There is a crack on teh top section next to the thumb hole. It has been bound and fully stabilized. The utaguchi edge was chipped but has been filled. There was urushi lacquer applied to the top to seal the work. It has been fully cured, washed and safe form most people to play with out risk of a rash.
This is a fine playing Jinashi made for Honkyoku with an earth warm “hollow” sound. It is an easy player with tuning characteristic of the period and style instrument. As always, all instruments offered here are fully guaranteed. Please feel free to ask any questions what so ever.
