This is a wonderful example of my Chikusing model shakuhachi. It is made from Chinese Madake bamboo and has a slightly wide bore profile so the response is quite smooth for the experienced player. Spot tuned at select resonance spots for a more dynamic response in volume and range of tone color while retaining the warm bamboo sound natural bore players prefer. This flute is actually 1.75, 53.9cm in length and in tune at A = 440hz. It has a Sogawa style Water Buffalo Horn inlay after my main sensei in Japan - Kinya Sogawa. Urushi lacquered bore.
