3.0 Hotchiku Style Root End Shakuhachi

3.0 Length Hotchiku all natural style root end shakuhachi (E pitch). These are made in the lineage of Watazumi who started the Dokyoku style of Honkyoku music. His vision and artistry stretched the dynamic range of the Koten Honkyoku music and catapulted the shakuhachi onto the international stage. This one has the characteristic organic tonal, qualities of an all natural tapered bore shakuhachi. This one has a narrow bore and has a faster atari and melodic playing response than wide bore flutes. The bore and utaguchi has been lacquer with authentic Shuai translucent urushi to seal and protect from moisture damage. The finger holes are larger then the standard 1.8 Jiari (fine tuned) shakuhachi. The player should have medium to large hands.

2.7 CHIKUSING Model Jinashi Style Rootend Shakuhachi

2.7 length (G at A = 443) Narrow bore CHIKUSING Model Jinashi style shakuhachi.  Chikusing model flutes are natural bore style flutes but has my Spot Tuning Method for a more dynamic, musical response.This one feels more like a Jiari with a brighter tone color than the wider bore flutes. The attack and response is crisper. Kinko Water Bufalo Horn utaguchi inlay, Shuai urushi lacquered bore. This one has a moved thumb hole for more precise tuning in the second octave.

Repaired cracks with topical cord bindings lacquered with Neri Bengari urushi.  Hefty piece of wide bore bamboo with robust and resonant sound yet warm inviting tone color. The bottom of the root was cracked during the harvest but is it cosmetic only and does not affect the playability..
